FREEWAY Lighting Solutions is a division of the Rebound Electronics Group and has been formed to offer the LED Lighting Market a new and different solution in this rapidly expanding market. By selecting key partners and in depth stock, we hope to offer the customer total focus and support from initial concept to finished design and even the capability of a total box build solution with chosen manufacturing partners. Freeway Lighting Solutions will offer a Comprehensive range of Low, Mid and High Power LED plus COB solutions, and will also offer Thermal Solutions, Optics, Connectors and a range of LED Driver products.

We have built a highly experienced team of people, with skills in both the commercial and technical arena, that can help you decide the best solution for your company.

 

 

The Team  

Richard Blackmore

Managing Director

Richard has been involved in the Electronic Component Distribution market for over 35 years. He joined the Abacus Group in 1979 and had several senior positions within the Group, including Managing Director of Quest Electronics, one of the early subsidiary companies, and Regional Sales Director for the Major Accounts Division based at Newbury, in total Richard spent 28 years with the Abacus Polar Group.

He joined the Rebound Group in 2010 to take up the role as Sales Director for Freeway Electronics, the Groups first venture into Franchised Distribution and is now looking forward to the challenge of building the Lighting Solutions Division into the flagship company within the group.

 

Ian Wood

Technical Director

Ian graduated from Bournemouth University in 2006 having studied Electronic Engineering. Whilst at University in his third year Ian had a placement at Micromark C&CD where he gained his first year of experience in the Electronic Component Distribution industry. After university in 2006 Ian started working for Abacus as an Internal Applications Engineer. Here Ian gained more experience of Component Distribution supporting a large number of Semiconductor suppliers. Ian then progressed to become a Field Applications Engineer within Abacus. Spending most of his time supporting LED Lighting customers with Osram, Edison and Everlight LED's.

Abacus was taken over by Avnet in 2009 and Ian moved to supporting Seoul and Sharp LED's for Silica. Ian has over 6 years of experience in Component Distribution, over 4 of these have been spent supporting LED Lighting customers in the UK.

Ian is now ready to step up to the new challenge of Technical Director for Freeway Lighting Solutions

 

Ken Bryant

Sales Manager

Ken spent 20 Years with USAF working aircraft avionics and internal electronic systems. He retired from the USAF in 1994.

Ken has a BCS in aeronautical engineering, minor in management and also one in avionics. He started his career in the Distribution market with Force Technologies ,where he spent 4 years ,starting as internal sales and then progressed to office manager selling electronic components.

He also spent 15 years at TRG Components as sales manager. Ken is also ready for a new challenge and is looking forward to bringing his experience to the Freeway Lighting Solutions team.

 

Lynda Ashton

Internal Sales Manager

Lynda has been in the Electronics industry for the last fifteen years in both manufacturing and distribution. The first five were spent with the component manufacturer Thomson Electronic Components where she supported the sales teams for both passive and semi-conductor components. Thomson later became part of the AVX group. At this point she joined Abacus Electronic Components as Internal Sales Support where she first worked with Richard Blackmore.

After a two year gap where she accompanied her husband on a two year company posting to the South of France, she re-joined Abacus, again teaming up with Richard. She remained with Abacus for the next 10 years rising to the position of Internal Sales Manager. Lynda also joined the Rebound Group in 2010 and in 2011 she joined the Freeway team.

Lynda is looking forward to the new venture and supporting Richard and the Freeway Lighting Solutions team
